Cold Brew

A smooth 1:8 cold-brew concentrate to dilute and serve over ice.

Cold Brew coffee recipe
  • Ratio: 1:8 concentrate
  • Method: Immersion / jar steep
  • Brew time: 12+ hours
  • Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients

Amounts for 1 serving.

  • Coarse Ground Coffee: 50 g
  • Cold Water: 400 ml

Instructions

  1. Coarsely grind 50 g of coffee — about the texture of raw sugar or breadcrumbs.
  2. Combine with 400 g of cool, filtered water in a jar and stir until every ground is saturated.
  3. Cover and steep for 12 to 18 hours at room temperature or in the fridge.
  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, then again through a paper filter or cloth to remove sediment.
  5. Serve over ice diluted with an equal part water or milk, and adjust to taste.

Make a bigger batch

Cold brew scales beautifully — keep the 1:8 ratio and multiply. A jar of concentrate keeps for up to two weeks in the fridge, so it is worth brewing a large batch at once. Save the recipe and scale it in a tap whenever you want to refill the jar.
